Upon arriving in Boise and picking up my rental car, my initial plan was to immediately head to Goldy’s Breakfast Bistro and to eat. By the time I arrived in downtown Boise I only had about 20 minutes before I had to leave purchasing my tickets to Frightened Felons at the Old Idaho Penitentiary. As this was not enough time to eat and still make it on time, I decided to take a quick walk over to the state capitol and explore the building a bit.
While the Idaho State Capitol is definitely not the biggest Capitol Building in the Country, it is in an absolutely beautiful location and that location really gives the building the air of importance and dignity that a state capitol building should have.
I assumed I would only be able to explore the exterior of the Idaho state capitol building; I thought it would take too long to get through security and I was limited on my amount of time. Turns out there is no security at the Capitol Building and I was able to walk in and wander on my own. Upon walking into the building you are dazzled with with floor to ceiling marble and your eyes are drawn up to the beautiful dome.

One thing I found very interesting about the Idaho State Capitol the accessibility. Not only was there no security at the entrance, the office of the Governor is on the main floor of the Capitol and on a weekday you could just walk in. I could not imagine this being the case in bigger states.
Overall, the Idaho State Capitol is a beautiful building inside and out and is a place is a great free way to spend at least thirty minutes of your time in Boise.
