After our food tour, it was time to head back to our ho(s)tel to get some sleep. Our moms trip rolled on first thing the next morning. After grabbing a quick breakfast from my dad’s favorite grocery store, Aldi, it was time for our first activity of the day. We were taking an early morning Copenhagen Canal Tour!
Booking
An hour long canal cruise of Copenhagen was one of the few affordable activities I could find. While I booked my tickets ahead of time, it really doesn’t matter. When you book your tickets you do not select a time; you only select a date. You then receive a voucher that is good on any canal ride on that date. Rides leave about every 15-30 minutes, from either Ven Strand or Nyhavn. So really it doesn’t matter if you book ahead as you can always just walk up and buy your ticket. This type of tour is also part of the Copenhagen Card (more on that later). However, we just booked it on viator which ran us $13.32 each for this one hour tour.
Copenhagen Canal Tour
The Copenhagen Canal Tour is an hour long ride through the canals seeing most some of Copenhagen’s most popular sites. Generally you will pass the Amalienborg Palace, the Copenhagen Opera House, Nyhavn, Christianshavn, and the Little Mermaid Statue. All of this, of course depends on the water levels in the Canals. As we visited in the rainy season, the water level was higher than usual so unfortunately our boat could not fit under the some of the lower bridges. Instead we had to stick to the wider main canal. Even though we could not go through the side canals, we still were to go by some of the main sites including Nyhavn, The Little Mermaid Statue, and the Copenhagen Opera House.
Throughout the tour our well-informed tour guide provided information about all of the sites we were passing as well as general information on the city. Even on a cold, gloomy, and rainy day we all really enjoyed seeing this beautiful city from the water.

Overall
The Copenhagen Canal Tour is a short one tour that provides you a great overview of copenhagen for a pretty good price even on a gloomy day.
