After taking The Bug to the Park and while waiting on vet, it was time for lunch. I am a massive burger addict. As such, I try the best burgers out almost everywhere I go. In Salt Lake City, we decided to check out Chedda Burger.
Chedda Burger started off as a food truck. and would frequent all of the local festivals and events. With its funky flavor combinations, the Chedda Burger food truck blew up. Chedda Burger now has 2 locations in Salt Lake City and is looking to open a third. Even after transitioning to to a restaurant, Chedda Burger is one of the best burgers in Salt Lake City and a local icon.
Chedda Burger prides itself on its innovation. Their goal is to change the way Salt Lake City residents think about their burger. So their focus is on unique and new burger combinations. This uniqueness also shows the second you pull up to the restaurant. The building a stark black accented with a unique colorful design..
This funky theme continues inside the building and gives the restaurant a youthful and modern vibe.
Chedda Burger’s menu are not traditional burgers. For example the La Tula, potentially their most famous burger, is topped with cotija cheese, chicharrones crusted guacamole, pickled red onions, and jalapeno mayo.
I ordered the Mother Hen. The Mother Hen is topped with muenster cheese, a fried egg, bacon, spring mix, sriracha mayo, all served on an english muffin.
The Mother Hen was freaking fantastic mess. I am not sure I have ever had a burger as messy at the Mother Hen, but it was worth it. I probably sound like a broken record right now, but there is literally nothing better than runny egg. The egg on my mother hen was perfectly cooked and all the flavors meld perfectly together. While a fried egg on a burger and sriracha mayo are not innovative, chedda burger does it extremely well. The real unsung hero of this burger is the english muffin. The english muffin is not only lower carbs but it also soaks up the egg yolk better than a traditional bun. Thus, providing even more flavor.
The Tula is literally the best burger that stephanie ever had. Unlike me, stephanie is not a burger person. However, she believes that the person who came up with the idea of battering and frying guacamole is a culinary genius (okay, she really said mother f—ing genius). It had salt. It had fat. It had acid. The burger was a symphony of flavors for her taste buds.
We also split an order of of Cheddar Tots, tater tots stuffed with cheddar and cream cheese.
Most of the burgers on Chedda Burger’s menu are around 7.99. This does not come with any drinks or sides. That being said. the price is reasonable for the quality of their burgers. For two burgers, two sodas, and an order of Chedda Tots we paid a total of $24.94 after tax. While not the steal of the century, you are not going to break the bank for an amazing chedda burger experience.
Literally the best burger stephanie ever had. There is not much more that needs to be said about Chedda Burger. They bring you a unique take on burgers. and will completely change everything you ever knew about burgers.
